RE: slide out question

Some TTs have them, some don't,they are used usually on the hydraulic ones more than the screw type.

RE: how many times

We try to camp a couple times a month,TT and TV do not leave the driveway without both being washed, tires dressed, and looking good.

RE: Solar Power Bug Lights

I know you can have what ever you want but think of your fellow campers. You have hit on one of my pet peeves. BUG LIGHTS. The constant zapping sound does something to my nervous system. It causes me to become very agitated. I had a neighbor whom lived across the street they never sat out or cooked out or did anything outside they had a BUG LIGHT when they went on vacation I would go across the street and turn it off at least I got some relief for a while. Thankfully they moved. Loud music, loud talking, cussing and bug lights at campgrounds. They all BUG me. PETEBOOM...BOOM..THUMP...THUMP "music",(NOISE)Don't get me started!!

RE: Air Conditioner Fan

A large guy that camped next to us our 2nd time out this year asked if we had a Dometic A/C because every year he has his small neighbor kid go up and pull cover, oil, spin fan and put cover back on because it locks up,never had that problem with my other TTs,and hardly ever use the A/c,we"ll run it a couple times a season just to keep everything working,at least I have a walk on roof.

RE: Airstreams?

I have researched this topic to death and here is what I have concluded. Once up to speed the weight has little to do with fuel consumption compared with wind drag. Towing an Airstream will get 20% better mileage when compared to a box type trailer. Note that the frontal area and the rear of the trailer influence aerodynamics and must be considered. The added bonus of an Airstream is the superior towability overall. This clip explains... http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v213/CF105/?action=view¤t=ASPerfVideo.flv We went from a 2,000lb Pop Up to a 4,500lb 23' Airstream and our fuel usage only went from 19mpg to 16mpg (can gal). We tow with a aerodynamic V6 vehicle which also allows the aerodynamics of the Airstream work it's magic.I understand aerodynamics, because of my racing exsperience, and I admit that an Airstream is more aerodynamic than most.....but 20% better fuel mileage???? I would have to disagree there...some TVs do not increase ther mileage 20% when they unhook and run empty..plus as stated weight doesn't change your mileage much? Start at the bottom of a 6000 ft mountain with a TT weighing 4000lbs. and 9000lbs.and see how much more fuel it will take to pull it to the top, especially without a turbo diesel,Again I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one.

RE: Slide tilt

I do the same, big wooden blocks 12x12x4,raise the slide side just a little higher then run the slide out, after a day she's sitting perfectly leval, and stays that way the rest of the weekend.

RE: Can I tow a 2008 Cougar Lite 29 foot trailer

What gear ratio do you have?I pull my 08 Cougar 29RLS XLite with a SD with v-10 and and it's no problem at all.The wheelbase is a little short on a Expy.

RE: If Price Didn't Matter, What Trailer Would You Buy?

I could not be any happier with the rig I have right now regardless of money,an Airstream is a real "traditional" TT but they just never did anything for me.But I"ll take all that Lotto money and put it in a FUEL account!

RE: Level Fridge on Electric

I have always tried to get mine as close to level as possible while setting up,but because of certain circumstances it's not always possible and in almost 10yrs. and 3 different TTs it has never made a difference,if it was off a little.

RE: trailer accessories are killing me

You buy the new TT and see that the specs. say you can put 1450 lbs.in it and not be overweight, and you say ,we won't have no way near that much stuff..........HAHAHAHAHA!

RE: Newbie Here

Welcome to the forum! At least from your signature you won't be asking if your TV is capable of pulling your TT? Go big CD Dodge!

RE: Rotation of TT Tires

On the TV or a car the front tires will wear differently than rear because of steering,on a TT they just follow each other the same way, they should all wear the same if everything is right,so it's really not nesessary, but it wouldn't hurt a thing if you wanted to rotate them.

RE: Trailer rotting from the belly up

I agree with dodgeguy, looks like it could have been in a flood, look for signs in other places for muddy water stains, battery box, frame rails, look inside brake drums, just a thought, good luck,my moto "enough time and money,I (you) can fix anything!"

RE: New Trailer

Biggest thing is RELAX,take things slow and careful, think it through, get help backing it up,think about where your awning will stick out,(trees)and you'll be fine, enjoy your new trailer!

RE: Water hookup on rear of trailer

Mine is at the back,my only problem is the FW tank holds 45 gal.s at 7+ lbs.a gallon, and when it's that far back on a 30' TT,it really changes the tongue weight and changes the way it pulls, compared with when it's empty.

RE: Wheres fresh water drain cock?

Mine has no valves and Polar Package,3 caps just screw on ,your FW cap probably got lost and fell off.
SuperDutyMan 05/11/08 06:32pm Travel Trailers
RE: Is the POLAR PACKAGE a mice breeding ground?

I sprayed foam in the seams, the worst was a couple larger holes at the rear bumper, other than that it was sealed pretty good.
